Air rescue operation for buoy Vida 2
In mid-October, the Piran buoy Vida 2 broke free from the anchorage. In the Areoklub Obalni Letalski center Portorož joined the search operation with an aircraft and helped to locate the position of the "runaway" buoy from the air. Search operation was successfully completed.
Who is Vida 2?
Vida 2 is an oceanographic buoy that has been anchored in the Piran Bay since 2008 and communicates data to the National Institute of Biology with various meters. It reports data as wind strenght, air temperature and humidity measurements at a height of 3.5 m from the sea surface, sea water temperature and conductivity measurements, chlorophyll a concentration measurements acceleration and buoyancy measurements, in addition to currents also measures surface waves, meter dissolved oxygen concentrations ...
The Vida buoy is equipped with three surveillance cameras, one of which is designed to transmit an image from a depth of two meters and is attached to the bottom of the hull.
